Pardot Setup Guide

Prerequisites

  • A Salesforce Pardot (Account Engagement) account with Administrator access.
  • Your Pardot Business Unit ID (an 18-character ID beginning with 0Uv), found in Salesforce Setup under Pardot Account Setup - useful to have on hand in case it isn't automatically listed during setup.

Setup Guide

Step 1: Grant Permission to Connect to Matia's App (OAuth only)

If your Salesforce org has never approved an externally-hosted ("uninstalled") connected app before, an admin needs to grant this permission first, or the authorization in Step 2 will fail.

  1. Log in to Salesforce with an account that has administrative privileges.
  2. Click Setup.
  3. Under the Administer tab, expand Manage Users.
  4. From the dropdown, select Permission Sets. You can create a new permission set or use an existing one.
  5. Click Edit and enable Approve Uninstalled Connected Apps. If your organization has API Access Control enabled, enable Use Any API Client instead.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Click Manage Assignments → Add Assignments.
  8. Select the user who will authorize Matia in Step 2, then click Assign.

Note: Once the connection in Step 2 is established successfully, you can return to this permission set and disable it for security purposes.

Step 2: Complete Configuration in Matia

  1. In Matia, click Authorize.
  2. You'll be redirected to Salesforce to log in and grant Matia access. Pardot's API runs on top of standard Salesforce OAuth, so this is the same Salesforce login/consent screen used to connect Matia's Salesforce connector.
  3. Review the requested permissions and click Allow.
  4. After redirecting back to Matia, confirm the Business Unit you want to sync.
  5. Enter an Asset Name.
  6. (Optional) Enter a Description.
  7. (Optional) Assign Tags.
  8. Select an Owner.
  9. Verify that your Pardot account is successfully connected by clicking on Test Connection.
  10. Click Connect.
