Add an asset to the catalog
This guide explains how to add assets to the Matia catalog so they appear in the asset tree and can be used in integrations, lineage, and observability. For concepts, see Catalog overview and Asset types.
Where to Add an Asset
- Go to Catalog in the left sidebar.
- Click Add Asset (top right).
- Choose one: Add a source, Add a destination, Add a warehouse, Add a BI integration, or Add DBT.
Connector Selection and Setup
After choosing the asset type, you choose the specfic connector you wish to connect (e.g. Postgres, Snowflake, HubSpot, Tableau, dbt Cloud). Click the connector you want to add.
Once in the connector’s setup page:
- Authenticate — sign in or provide credentials as required by the connector.
- Configure — complete any connector-specific configuration (e.g. database, schema, region).
- General information — set Name (and optional Description), owners, and tags.
- Test connection — verify the connection works.
- Connect — save the asset.
After connecting, the asset appears in the catalog asset tree under the appropriate category and is discoverable throughout the workspace. It can then be used when creating integrations or monitors.
Use the Asset
- ETL / Reverse ETL: When creating an integration, you can select this asset as source or destination.
- Observability: Enable schemas (for warehouses) in Account settings for auto-generated monitors, or add custom monitors.
- Lineage: Once the asset is connected, Matia can use it for lineage (e.g. warehouse → dbt → BI). See View lineage.
