Users & Permissions

Matia uses role-based access control (RBAC) to manage who can do what in your workspace. Instead of granting capabilities one by one, you assign each teammate one or more roles, and every role bundles a set of permissions that control the actions a user can take across Integrations, Observability, and Catalog.

Manage your team from Settings → Users & Permissions. This guide covers the day-to-day tasks on that page. For a full breakdown of what each role grants, see the Roles reference, and for the complete list of individual capabilities, see the Permissions reference.

note

Managing users — inviting, editing roles, and removing people — requires administrative access (for example, the Global Admin role). Users with more limited roles can view the platform according to their permissions but cannot change other users' access.

The Users list

The Users tab shows everyone in your workspace in a single table:

ColumnDescription
NameThe user's full name.
EmailThe email address the invitation was sent to.
Assigned RolesThe roles granted to the user, shown as chips.
StatusWhether the user is Active or still Invited.

Inviting a user

  1. Go to Settings → Users & Permissions and open the Users tab.
  2. Click Invite User in the top-right corner.
  3. Enter the teammate's Email and Full Name.
  4. Under Assign Roles, select one or more roles. Roles are grouped by category (Integrations, Observability, Catalog, and Global) so you can grant access to a single product area or across the whole platform. A user can hold multiple roles — their effective access is the combination of all of them.
  5. (Optional) Add a personal note in Optional Message to include in the invitation email.
  6. Click Send Invitation.

The user receives an email invitation and appears in the list with the status Invited until they accept and sign in.

User status

  • Invited — the invitation has been sent but the user hasn't signed in yet.
  • Active — the user has accepted the invitation and can access Matia.

Viewing and editing a user

Open the Actions menu (the three-dot icon) at the end of a user's row to:

  • View Details — see the user's information and their assigned roles in a read-only view.
  • Edit User — change which roles are assigned. Select or clear roles in the Assign Roles section, then click Update Roles. Changes take effect immediately.
note

A user's email and name are set when they are invited and cannot be changed from the Edit User dialog — only their role assignments can be updated here.

Removing a user

  1. Open the Actions menu on the user's row.
  2. Click Remove User.
  3. Confirm the removal.

Removing a user revokes their access to your Matia workspace. This action cannot be undone — you would need to re-invite the person to restore access.

Finding users

For larger teams, narrow the list using the controls above the table:

  • Search by name or email.
  • Filter by Assigned Roles or Status.
