Certificates and Announcements

This page is the authoritative reference for certificates and announcements on catalog assets. Both help communicate trust, lifecycle, and urgent context to your team.

Certificates

Certificates indicate the state of a data asset so others know whether it is safe to use, in progress, or deprecated.

  • Verified: Data is reviewed and approved for use. Use for production-ready, trusted assets.
  • Draft: Data is in development or under review. Use for work-in-progress or not-yet-approved assets.
  • Deprecated: Data is outdated or should not be used. Use when an asset is retired or superseded.
  • No certificate: The asset has no certificate assigned. You can leave it unset or assign one of the above.

Each certificate can have an optional message that appears on the asset page (e.g. "Use v2 table instead" for Deprecated). The certificate, message, who assigned it, and last update time are shown on the asset.

Where: On the asset details page, Certificates section (e.g. in the right sidebar). Click + or Assign certificate, choose type, add optional message, save.

Announcements

Announcements are broadcast messages attached to an asset (or database, schema, table) to communicate key information or urgent notices.

  • Information: Neutral or informational message (e.g. "New column added for experiment X").
  • Warning: Something to be aware of (e.g. "Schema change planned next week").
  • Issue: Urgent or blocking (e.g. "Do not use until fix is deployed").

You can optionally select a broadcast channel from your notification integrations; if selected, the announcement is also sent to that channel. The announcement persists on the asset page so anyone opening the asset sees it.

Where: Asset details → Actions (top right) → Add announcement → choose type, optional channel, enter message, save.
